Ashland was an active city with a bustling supernatural community. The Camarilla court and a Sabbat diocese competed against each other in the city, spirits found havens in graveyards and haunts, and even the Werewolves managed to find themselves busy fighting the Wyrm. All of that came to a silent halt on March of 2000. No one is certain why but some vampire experts recognized that the dot-com bubble crash began around that time and wiped out $5 trillion in market value of technology companies around the world. Ashland, Oregon itself experienced quite an economic downturn but no supernatural sect was able to discover why all of their ilk vanished.
Then the news slowly started to trickle in. Initial scouting parties from the Camarilla and Sabbat never came back. Even a Garou pack that wandered into the area to check on their sacred caern was later discovered by some Wendigo kin killed. Their entrails thrown about carelessly but no signs of the aggressor. It is believed that some time in 2002 a Nosferatu managed to sneak back into the city and probe for clues. Before his own disappearance he had reported spotting a vampire of unknown origins wandering the streets and forests of Ashland.
Many believe that the Garou swept in from the woods and cleaned out the city of it's vampire population as the economy collapsed all around them. Others believe that the previously sighted vampire may have had something to do with it. The only answers to be found lie somewhere in the ghosts of what once was. The time is now 2009 and amid a rebuilding U.S. economy Ashland is once again seeing a spike of business and tourism. And slowly but surely the supernatural creatures of this world of darkness begin to trickle back in. Some seek fame and fortune, others seek power.
