"there is no Dana only Zul....' what a lovely singing voice you must have' "-Ghostbusters

As the end times grows closer and closer at hand and the spirit world becomes that much more frayed, the Giovanni of Necropolis continue to think of more efficient means to guard and protect their holdings and still further their own necromantic research. After extensive study into necromancy they discovered a type of hege magician who could, through similiar means use their magics to contact and control the spirits of the underworld.
It wasn't long after that plans were set in motion to exploit this mortal phenomena and subvert it to their will. Using the Catholic church as a backdrop the Phasmatis Vernator, or Spirit Hunter, was born. All potencial Vernator begin a long and arduous few months in which they are trained in their respective arts (ephemera, hellfire or both) along with extensive physical and mental training to prepare them for the rigours and dangerous tasks at hand. All are blood bonded (if not already ghouled) along with mental conditioning via dominate to insure loyalty to the clan. Strong mind and strong body are whats desired in a potencial member, which is why there are few of their kind, as the rigors in becoming a member are steep indeed, let alone finding the ability to weild hedge magics.
Phasmatis Vernator typically wear garb similiar to the priesthood to help disguise their activities and when expecting combat, they wear hybrid cloak/plate armor, usually semi ornate giving the first impression of Vatican warriors or mysterious religious zealots.
The head of the Vernator, like the church, is typically a father or bishop of some kind and they are completely loyal to the family, even going so far as to accept a type of seppiku over being captured. The Vernator are typically held back and kept to the shadows so that they can move unimpeded as the family sends lesser thugs and errand boys to do some of the more mundane tasks. the Vernator also work in groups, usually a trio but no less than 2 as numbers typically gives them their greatest advantage, despite their magical and martial abilities.
Being skilled spirit hunters isn't their only skill, as the Giovanni have mortal and kindred enemies as well. Those that live long enough typically aquire some basics of the kindred world, allowing them to differienciate between clans and setc. Raising their value to the family but likewise ensuring that they can never leave. To date there is roughly 10 within the Giovanni domain of Necropolis.
